Shamanism is a spiritual practice grounded in a reverent awareness that the world is animated, conscious, and energetically interdependent.
A shaman, also known as a Curandero in Peru (and by many other names depending on the culture), is one who develops a personal and intimate relationship with the seen and unseen world for the purpose of healing. This relationship is cultivated experientially through apprenticeship, self-induced altered states of consciousness, ritual ceremony, and refined energetic awareness.
While western medicine sees healing as a process of interventions that lead to a body-based cure, shamans approach healing from the perspective of restoring one’s wholeness. Many of these ancient healing traditions address whole-person restoration by working with the body, heart, spirit, mind, and soul together.
If you are called to explore complementary approaches to healing, please join David Jordan, a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and sanctioned curandero medicine carrier of the Pachakuti Mesa tradition of cross cultural shamanism, as he opens a healing circle and offers an opportunity to experience shamanic healing.
